Local Leaders
Cindy Sellers
Candidate for Board of Education
Cindy Sellers is running for the Board of Education with a clear mission: strengthen public schools, support teachers, and ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed. As a lifelong advocate for children and community involvement, Cindy believes strong schools are the foundation of a strong county.
Her approach is grounded in partnership — listening to parents, collaborating with educators, and making decisions that reflect real‑world classroom needs rather than partisan agendas.
Champion for Students
Cindy is committed to improving student achievement through safe learning environments, expanded literacy efforts, and community‑supported programs that help students succeed academically and emotionally.
Supporting Teachers
She believes teachers are the backbone of public education and need fair pay, adequate resources, and strong support systems. Cindy will advocate for policies that attract and retain high‑quality educators.
Community‑Driven Leadership
Cindy values collaboration and transparency. She pledges to work with families, staff, and community partners to make decisions grounded in shared goals and local needs — not politics.

County Leaders
Steven Warren
Candidate for County Commissioner • Connected Communities • Smart Growth
Steven Warren has launched a campaign for county commissioner focused on steady leadership, community connection, and long‑term planning that balances economic growth with environmental stewardship.
Steven’s platform emphasizes the idea that strong counties are built through collaboration. Rather than framing issues in partisan terms, he is listening to residents, working with local boards, and building consensus to address shared challenges.
Connected Neighborhoods
Steven supports development patterns that encourage walkability, accessibility, and quality of life for families, seniors, and workers alike. He views thoughtful land‑use planning as a way to strengthen local identity while reducing long‑term infrastructure costs.
Smart, Responsible Growth
Being pro‑growth and pro‑business does not mean unchecked expansion. Steven advocates for realistic, fiscally sound, forward‑looking planning that attracts employers, supports small businesses, and ensures infrastructure, schools, and services keep pace with development.
Environmental Stewardship
Preserving natural resources and protecting clean water are central to Steven’s vision. He supports integrating sustainability into county decision‑making, and believes environmental responsibility and economic vitality can reinforce each other when growth is planned carefully.
Collaborative Leadership
Steven pledges to work closely with educators, business owners, healthcare providers, and civic organizations to make county government more responsive and transparent. His campaign is grounded in empathy, practical solutions, and long‑term outcomes.
Steven’s message is simple: thoughtful planning today can create prosperous, connected communities for generations to come.
State Leaders

Trevor Hardwick
Senate Candidate for District 36
Why I’m Running
North Carolina is strongest when every family has the tools they need to succeed. I’m running for the State Senate because our communities deserve leaders who listen, who show up, and who put people first. The challenges we face are real, but so are the opportunities—if we choose to invest in them.
The conversations I’ve had across District 36 keep coming back to the same concerns. These priorities matter deeply to the people I hope to represent, and they guide my work every day.
Public School Funding
One of the main reasons I decided to run for the North Carolina State Senate is public school funding. North Carolina ranks last in the nation in how much we invest in our public schools—not because we lack the resources, but because of misplaced priorities in our legislature.
Current representatives are diverting tax dollars and North Carolina Education Lottery funds away from public schools and toward private school vouchers. At the same time, large tax incentives are being given to wealthy donors who support those voucher programs. Teachers and students are bearing the consequences.
Teachers are underpaid, overworked, and undervalued. Many work second jobs or leave the profession entirely just to make ends meet. Students are affected as well, with North Carolina spending nearly $6,000 less per student than the national average. In 2025, the Education Lottery raised $6.6 billion, yet only about $1.05 billion went to public schools.
I want to end taxpayer‑funded private school vouchers and reinvest that money where it belongs—into our public school system.
Immigration
Immigration is another issue close to my heart. Because of actions taken by our current government, many hardworking people in our communities—especially first‑generation Americans—are living in fear and uncertainty while simply trying to build a better life for their families.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. reminded us, “We may have all come on different ships, but we’re in the same boat now.” Immigrants are not the enemy; they are part of the foundation of this nation. I will work for stronger protections for first‑generation Americans and for those seeking citizenship after fleeing hardship in search of opportunity.
Cost of Living
The rising cost of living affects everyone. Inflation has increased the price of groceries, housing, medical care, and everyday expenses—costing families thousands more each year while wages remain stagnant. North Carolina needs more high‑paying jobs, and we need to ensure that hardworking people can afford not only to get by, but to build a stable future.
North Carolina is not a poor state. Our tax dollars are being mismanaged by a Republican supermajority that has lost sight of who government is meant to serve.
